When God's chosen people stood before the Red Sea, they didn’t know what was ahead, but they knew who was with them—God. Rather than focusing on the uncertainties right in front of us, we are called to look toward the Author and Creator who leads us. His love and guidance are known, even when the path isn’t, and He always makes a way.
God Makes A Way
When we decide to follow God, nothing can stand in our way! It’s not about our strength but about who is with us—God. In Exodus 14, the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and an army chasing them. They were terrified! But God told them to move forward, and as they followed Moses, the sea parted, and they walked through on dry ground. When God gives direction, and we take the first step, He makes a way!
As a teenager, I went to church, Sunday school, and youth group, but I felt something was missing. I knew my heart wasn’t right, and God was not pleased with my life. I wanted to live better but didn’t really see a way forward. One day, I prayed and told God that I wanted to live for him and asked him to help me. That prayer was my step toward the “Red Sea” in my life. It wasn’t easy because the people around me weren’t encouraging the right things.
With God’s help, I made small changes, cleaning up my language and distancing myself from bad influences, but I felt out of place and didn’t really have anyone to support me in these changes. Then, my family was invited to a meeting at another church, and God made it clear that we belonged there.
This was my “parting of the Red Sea.” I had taken that first step, unsure of what would happen, but God opened a new path. He brought me to a place where I could grow spiritually and be surrounded by people who cared about my soul. It felt so good to be in a place where my newfound faith could be nourished!
Key Takeaway
Just as Moses lifted his hand in obedience and the sea rolled back, a simple prayer for help will lead to God's same powerful response. If you feel stuck, pray to God and take that first step. Trust God to make a way. You don’t need to see the whole path—just take the step He’s calling you to, and He will guide you through even if it doesn’t look like there is a way. God will make a way!
