Series 1: "Religion is Confusing—Or Is It?"

Pastor Nathan: In this series, we’re exploring some of the world’s major religions, unpacking their key beliefs, and examining why they don’t lead to God or eternal life through Christ Jesus. In today’s episode, “The Hinduism Train,” I use a powerful comparison to explain how Hinduism’s teachings run on a circular track, leaving followers stranded in the barren desert, separated from Christ Jesus.

Old Mumbai Trains: A Comparison for Hinduism

Hinduism can be compared to the overcrowded trains of Mumbai, which were worse a few years back, where people cling to the outside, struggling to hang on and hoping to reach their destination. I use this imagery to show how Hinduism claims to offer liberation through the endless cycle of reincarnation but ultimately leaves individuals trapped, missing the destination—eternal life with God.

In the train comparison used throughout this series:

  • The Desert represents the separation from God.

  • The Train Station symbolizes our temporary life.

  • The Trains represent various religious paths people take in search of deliverance.

  • The Retirement City is the ultimate destination—eternal life with God through His Son, Jesus—but only one train leads there.

While Hinduism promises multiple chances to "get it right," I emphasize that it leads to a loss of personal identity and memories, offering only a repetitive cycle without true liberation. This starkly contrasts God’s promise of eternal life, where believers maintain their godly identity through faith in His Son and obedience to Him - and they get it right in this life!

Why Hinduism is the Wrong Train

Despite claims of offering eternal life, Hinduism locks its followers in an endless loop of imperfection, never delivering true freedom in the one true God. Even after advertising countless lifetimes, Hinduism never leads to an eternal dwelling with the Almighty, leaving people wandering in the desert of separation.

Additionally, certain Hindu practices, such as rituals involving manure and the worship of a false god that takes multiple forms, only add layers of confusion and deception. True freedom and deliverance are revealed through the simplicity of the Holy Bible’s message. These Hindu practices do not lead to freedom or eternal life. As I asserted in the podcast, “That’s bondage, not liberation. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.”

Finding the True Train to Salvation

At the heart of this discussion is the message that only faith in Jesus Christ offers the true path to eternal life with God. Unlike Hinduism, which presents confusion and uncertainty, the Holy Bible lays out a direct route to salvation, where believers retain their godly identity and dwell in the house of God as children of God for eternity.

In the next episode, I’ll explore how elements of Hinduism have seeped into American culture, touching on topics like words and practices.
